5 June: World Environment Day.
On the occasion of this date, and with no need to go into more detail, we want to share 10 images taken over the last year, in the different works we have done in the Pitiusas.
They are ordered chronologically, and apart from you liking them, we hope that they also contribute to contribute a small grain of sand that serves to value our local biodiversity (as well as the value of our islands as a stopping point on the migratory route of dozens of species between Africa and Europe), against real estate speculation, mass tourism or invasive species:
1. Falciot, common swift (Apus apus), 12-6-2022.
2. Coablanca, female of northern wheatear (Oenanthe oenanthe), 28-8-2022.
3. Xibel·lí, urasian thick-knee (Burhinus oedicnemus), 3-9-2022.
4. Corv marí gros, juvenile of great cormorant (Phalacrocorax carbo), 19-10-2022.
5. Gavina cama groga, juvenile of yellow-legged Gull (Larus michaellis), 15-12-22.
6. Falcó, adult male of peregrine falcon (Falco peregrinus brookey), 30-12-2023.
7. Xatrac, congregation, typical of the beginning of the migratory flow, of sandwich tern (Thalasseus sandvicensis), we can also see some black-headed gull (Chroicocephalus ridibundus); 22-2-2023.
8. Corv, common raven (Corvus corax), 5-3-23.
9. Gaig blau, european roller (Coracias garrulus), 27-4-23.
10. Serp de ferradura, horse shoe wip snake (Hemorrhois hippocrepis), invasive species that is seriously threatening the existence of local ecosystems as we have known them up to now; 16-5-2023.
